Training – Seventh Doctoral School – May 2025

The Sixth Doctoral School of the European Training Network project SMARTGYsum brings a new appointment among the seven main network-wide training events that will be organized during this project. The school will continue ESRs’ participation in special courses, each giving a certificate worth 1 ECTS credit. It will also include social events to get to know each other among the consortium members, improve research integration between the project beneficiaries and partners and establish long-lasting collaboration between the ESRs.

Gdansk is a city on the Baltic coast of northern Poland, and the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. I is Poland's sixth-largest city and principal seaport. Gdańsk lies at the mouth of the Motława River and is situated at the southern edge of Gdańsk Bay, close to the city of Gdynia and the resort town of Sopot, a metropolitan area called the Tricity (Trójmiasto), with a population of 1.5 million. The city has a complex history, having had periods of Polish, German and self rule. An important shipbuilding and trade port since the Middle Ages, in 1361 it became a member of the Hanseatic League which influenced its economic, demographic and urban landscape.

Attendance Cost

After the preliminary registration done in SMARTGYsum, each participant will have to formalize the inscription by doing the second step of the registration filling the form that will be available soon (initially up to May 1, 2025).

When properly formalizing the two steps registration process, each participant will receive an pre-invoice for the ammount of the selected registration fee and instructions to proceed with the payment.

The accommodation for incoming PhD students from ESR and catering for all attending PhD students will be paid from STER Programme (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, NAWA) no BPI/STE/2023/1/00018/DEC/01

Each ESR participant will have to formalize inscription by paying the registration fee of 700€.
The PhD students from Gdansk Tech can attend the school for free, although the number of places is limited.

There is a reduced fee for local participants, supervisors and professors of 450€ and a reduced 2-days registration (May 26-27) fee for supervisors of 250€. These fees will cover all costs except accommodation.
