Training – First Doctoral School – June 2022
The Opening Doctoral School of the European Training Network project SMARTGYsum is the first
among six main network-wide training events that will be organized during this project. The
conference will initiate ESRs’ participation in special courses, each giving a certificate worth 1 ECTS
credit. It will also include social events to get to know each other among the consortium members,
improve research integration between the project beneficiaries and partners, and establish longlasting
collaboration between the ESRs.

Symposium will be held in Pärnu at hotel SPA Tervis.
The hotel is located
close to the Yachting Harbor and the historic pier of
Pärnu (Seedri str. 6).
Pärnu is an economic center located in South-West
Estonia on the shores of the Gulf of Pärnu with an
area of 32 km2 and a population of about 50,000.
Since 1996, Pärnu holds the title of Estonia’s
Summer Capital. With a history dating back as long
as 11 000 years, Pärnu is a true pearl for any
architecture and history lover. The city itself was established 1251 and became one of the rich
vibrant Hanseatic cities during the medieval period. Its status as a Hanseatic city adds a historic
tone to contemporary Pärnu.

After making the preliminary registration (up to April 22) each participant
(two are expected from each beneficiary institution, ESR and supervisor)
will receive an email from the Hotel with the confirmation
of the reservation and the information about how to make the payment for 400€ to the hotel (which must be made before May 15)
This invoice includes:
Full-board accommodation in a single room
Meals
Access to the hotel’s sauna center and pool
Access to the training and technical activities
